I attended part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the forming of the Rhodesian Light Infantry as a founder member. The venue was in a large Territorial Army Headquarters in Davies Street running off Oxford Street toward the American Embassy, and now embraces all the former rifle regiments and holds some of their memorabilia.
I met old service chums including,in the photo below, the chap on the left who is still serving with the Sultan of Oman as a uniformed officer and 3rd from left a winner of a bravery award who I had not seen for thirty years and is in the process of producing a regimental history.
The celebrations continued the next day with a dinner and a visit to Hatfield House where the original colours are secured in the chapel.
